Cancer Journey - News

Nice To Cannes Marathon

Andy, Jonny and Robbie raised a fantastic £1600 in order to support our information service - a huge thank you to all the runners and to all the people who sponsored them.

Charity Lunch at the Institute of Directors

What a great time we had! Over 150 members of the financial leasing world came together at the Institute of Directors to meet, eat and enjoy themselves - all in aid of Cancer Journey.

Steve Davies- the legendary snooker player kept everyone very amused with his after lunch speech - the good mood continued through the afternoon when pockets were dug deep in support of the raffle and the auction. Total raised that day was in excess of £6000 - a huge thank you to Derek and Janet Soper from IAA and the team from CHP with out whom the event would not have happened, and to everyone who attended - see you all next year.

Free Prescription charges for cancer patients in England

From 1 April 2009, cancer patients in England have been eligible for free prescriptions. All cancer patients undergoing treatment for cancer, the effects of cancer or the effects of cancer treatment can now apply for exemption certificates. The forms, which need to be signed by a GP or oncologist, are available from all GP's surgeries or oncology clinics. The certificates cover all prescriptions not just those relating to cancer. For more information visit the Department of Health website : www.dh.gov.uk

Rome Marathon 2009 Report

They Came, they Ran, they Conquered Rome!

Congratulations to Chris, Sam and Suzi for their tremendous achievement - we are all really proud of you. And between them they have raised over £4000!
Thank you to everyone who sponsored them.

Spring 2009 Draw

Thanks to everyone who bought tickets for our Spring Draw. With such great prizes we knew that we were onto a winner but none of us thought that we would raise over £1200!
The winning tickets were drawn at the Charity Gig on April 2nd at which the brilliant Rhythm and Blues band 'Freddie and the Donuts' played together for the first time in 25 years. It was a brilliant night which raised over £1000 for Breakthrough to Breast Cancer - our thanks go to Norma and her team for their support. Winners names are available from the Cancer Journey office on 01444 458649.

Website sponsors

We're thrilled that the BMI McIndoe Surgical Centre in East Grinstead will be sponsoring the website for another year - we really do appreciate their support. Without this kind of generosity it would be very difficult for us to carry on with our work.

Grassroots Grant

Sussex Community FoundationCancer Journey were recently awarded a grant from the Grassroots Grant programme, part of the Sussex Community Foundation. The programme is aimed at small charities who are working to improve the lives of people within their own community. The award is to support the costs of the helpline.
